What the calculator does with your inputs

Nothing leaves your browser. The calculation engine is JavaScript that runs on your own device. Your balances, income, employer, family details and everything else you type are processed locally and are never transmitted to this site or anywhere else. There is no server that receives them, because the site is a set of static files.

This is a design decision, not an accident. A tool that asks for your income and your debt has no business collecting either, and not collecting the data is the only reliable way to protect it.

Your inputs are not saved between visits. Reloading the page clears them.

What is not collected

• No account, because there is nothing to sign in to
• No name, email address or phone number, because there is no form that asks for one
• No Social Security number, no bank details, no card details, ever
• No loan data, as described above

Theme preference

If you use the light and dark toggle, the choice is stored in your browser usinglocalStorage so the page does not flash the wrong colour on your next visit. It is a single value, it stays on your device, and it is never read by anyone. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Server logs

The site is served by a static host, which keeps ordinary request logs, typically including IP address, user agent and the page requested. This is standard for any web server and is used for delivering the site and for security. Those logs are held by the hosting provider under their own terms.

Partner links

This site carries no lender links today. Where any appear, they may be paid partner links, and if you follow one you leave this site and the lender's own privacy policy applies from that point. The lender may be able to tell that you arrived from here. Nothing you typed into the calculator travels with you: it was never transmitted anywhere and cannot be appended to a link.

Where any appear, partner links are shown only on results where the numbers favour refinancing. They are never rendered on a result that points the other way.

Analytics, cookies and tracking

This site uses Google Analytics 4, switched on 28 August 2026. Its script sets Google's own analytics cookies in your browser and reports that a page here was visited, together with what any web request already carries: an approximate location worked out from your IP address, your browser and device type, which page you were on, and where you arrived from.

It does not receive the figures you type into the calculator. There is no mechanism for it to. The engine runs on your device and the numbers are never sent anywhere, as described at the top of this page. Google's enhanced measurement does record that the form was interacted with, which is an event saying an interaction happened. It is not a copy of what was entered.

This site itself sets no advertising cookies and includes no advertising, remarketing or cross-site tracking scripts of its own. What Google retains, and for how long, is governed byGoogle's privacy policy and by the settings on the analytics property. If you would rather not be counted, browser tracking protection, an ad blocker, orGoogle's own opt-out add-onwill each stop it, and every part of this site keeps working when they do. The calculator does not depend on analytics loading.

Children

This site is aimed at adults managing student debt and is not directed at children under 13.

Your rights

Data protection laws including the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct and delete personal data held about you. This site holds no personal data about you itself. What exists is the host's ordinary server logs and the visit data held by Google Analytics, both of them under those providers' own terms, so there is in practice very little here to access or delete. If you want to ask anyway, write to[email protected].

Changes

If this policy changes, the last-reviewed date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes will also be noted on the editorial policy page.
